Brewster, Mahopac Football Standouts Honored At 'Golden Dozen' Dinner

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two Putnam County standouts were among players cited by the Westchester Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame for both athletic and academic excellence Thursday at the 42nd annual “Golden Dozen” awards banquet at Westchester Country Club in Rye.

Twelve winners and 24 second-team selections were honored at the dinner.

Matthew Quigley of Mahopac and Matthew Gargano of Brewster were named to the second team.

The 12 first team selections honored Thursday were:

In addition, the chapter honored  founding member and former Chapter President Bill Draddy and awarding the Chris Mello Scholar Athlete Award and Scholarship to Andrew Livingston of Rye. The awards is in memory of former "Golden Dozen" honoree Chris Mello of Rye, who was killed on Sept. 11, 2001.

Ryan Lee of John Jay won the Draddy Scholarship and Tuckahoe's Enock Penney-Laryea the Sabella Scholarship.
