WILTON, Conn. -- Wilton White concluded its fall season this past Sunday in a match at Darien that provided plenty of scoring, enthusiasm, chills, and excitement.
Darien took charge early with two goals in the first fifteen minutes but, undaunted, White came roaring back at the 22-minute mark when hard-charging Marygrace DelliSanti recorded her first of two goals on the afternoon by nimbly beating the Darien keeper to the upper right corner.
Darien extended its lead to 3-1 shortly thereafter, but White immediately regrouped and dominated for the remainder of the half as Victoria Fox recorded two rapid-fire goals in succession to knot things up at the break.
Alexis Castaldi started in goal for White and along with defenders Mairead Kehoe, Riley Milhoua, and Grace Beck led a stalwart, physical effort by smothering several Darien offensive rushes.
The second half saw the speed of Lilly Byrnes and Brielle Flavin on full display and their persistent hustle was finally rewarded as they helped setup DelliSanti's second goal with ten minutes remaining.
Peyton Gildersleeve and Catalina King continued to impress with electrifying rushes that were barely turned aside at the last second by Darien's alert defense. Sam Nichols relieved Castaldi and played solidly in White's goal helping minimize Darien's scoring output while keeping the match competitive throughout.
