Darien High Football Coach Suspended For Another Two Weeks

DARIEN, Conn. — Darien High School football coach Rob Trifone has been suspended for another two weeks after more evidence came to light about an incident in which he struck one of his players on the helmet, according to the Darien Times.

Trifone had already been suspended for two weeks, through Oct. 15, after hitting one his players with an open hand after the boy had an altercation with an opponent during a game against Norwich Free Academy, the Times said.

Trifone, who apologized for his actions, is now suspended through Oct. 30 after a school officials viewed a security video, the Time said. 

Darien High, the defending FCIAC and Class LL state champions in football, is 5-0 so far this season.

The team is scheduled to play at Danbury High on Friday, Oct. 21, then play at home against Wilton on Saturday, Oct. 29.
