Norwalk won the state title with a 10-2 win over Newtown on Saturday. Norwalk, 22-2 for the season, rolled to victory behind the pitching of Brendan Edvardsen and Vance Ward. AJ Robinson led the offense with three hits, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Edvardsen and Mike Berkowitz had two hits apiece for Norwalk.
Norwalk’s roster is Mike Berkowitz, Ben Boccanfuso, Jeremy Cooke, Brendan Edvardsen, Chris Ely, Jayden Gonzalez, Jake Palmer, Zion Profit, AJ Robinson, Kyle Root, Kamron Walker and Vance Ward.
Norwalk’s first New England game is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against the representative from Eastern Massachusetts.
Norwalk defeated Hebron, 12-0; New Milford, 6-4; and Stratford 9-8 to reach the championship game.
Norwalk’s 9-year-old All-Stars also reached the New England Tournament. Norwalk plays its first game Saturday in Hebron against Western Massachusetts.
