This popular family-friendly event, sponsored by the Wilton Education Foundation, allows runners and walkers of all ages and ability levels the opportunity to help raise funds for Wilton Public Schools while enjoying a fun workout.
"The race will have great vibe, energy and music," said event co-chairwoman Lynn DiNanno, a member of the LYLAS Sol Sisters running team. "Families are often running in different directions. This event has us all running in the same direction and for a great cause."
The race begins at the Wilton High School track and will include road racing and cross country trails surrounding the schools. Participants will have the option to run competitively or casually walk the 3.1-mile course.
Cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50 will be awarded to the top three men and women finishers following the race. Commemorative medals will also be given to the first 50 runners who finish.
The event drew approximately 300 people last year and is expected to draw an equally large crowd this year, DiNanno said.
Race registration is $25 per person. All proceeds will be donated to Wilton’s four public schools in the form of technology, music and arts, and staff development grants. To register in advance, visit the Wilton Education Foundation website. All preregistered participants will receive a T-shirt, goody bag, a bagel and post-race snacks, DiNanno said.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. the day of the event and the race will begin at 9 a.m. Wilton High School is located at 395 Danbury Road.
