The annual Darien-New Canaan Turkey Bowl matchup represents one of the biggest rivalries in Connecticut, and for the second year in a row the yearly tradition will also serve as the FCIAC's championship game. Both teams are undefeated this season, and Darien is looking to defend its championship after defeating New Canaan 28-21 in overtime last year.

But Darien and New Canaan won't be the only rivals dueling it out on Turkey Day. The rivalry football games have become part of the holiday for schools and communities around Fairfield County.

The annual rivalry games were nearly lost earlier this year when the FCIAC changed its schedules, ruling that all teams would be divided into two divisions, with the winners of each division playing each other in a championship game on Thanksgiving. After backlash from coaches, players, parents and community members, the FCIAC revised its schedule again to allow for the traditional Thanksgiving rivalry games.

The only rivalry game not taking place on Thanksgiving this year is the Danbury-Ridgefield game, which will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Tiger Hollow Stadium.

Here's a rundown of all the FCIAC games played on Thanksgiving this year:

  • Fairfield Warde at Fairfield Ludlowe, Taft Field, 10 a.m.
  • Harding at Bridgeport Central, Kennedy Stadium, 10 a.m.
  • Stamford at Westhill, Westhill Football Field, 10 a.m.
  • Greenwich at Staples, Staples Stadium, 10 a.m.
  • Norwalk at Brien McMahon, Brien McMahon High School, 10:30 a.m.
  • Trumbull at St. Joseph, St. Joseph High School, 10:30 a.m.
  • New Canaan at Darien, Boyle Stadium in Stamford, 10:30 a.m.
  • Trinity Catholic at Wilton, Wilton High School, 10:30 a.m.
