Christian Higgins and Robby Harder grabbed second place finishes for the Wilton Wahoos in the first night of finals Tuesday at the National YMCA Short Course national swimming championships in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Harder took second in the 500 freestyle in 4:25.9. Higgins grabbed second in the 200 individual medley in 1:48.58. Higgins is from New Canaan.
In other events on the first night of the finals, Kristen Moss was 17th in the women's 100-yard backstroke; Michael Pilyugin was 13th in the 100-yard back and 18th in the 50 free; Katy Luchansky was 16th in the women's 500 freestyle; Eric Ronda was eighth in the 500 free; KC Moss was 13th in the 200 individual medley; Timothy Lattimer was 24th in the 200 IM and Madeline Smart was 17th in the women's 50 freestyle.
In the women's 200-yard medley relay, Wilton finished 10th with Kristen Moss, KC Moss, Luchansky and Smart. In the men's 200-yard medley relay, the Wahoos were ninth with Harder, Higgins, Timothy Lattimer and Derrian Duryea.
