Wilton 11s Clinch Spot in Section 1 Final

WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton 11-year-old Little League All-Stars keep finding ways to win. Cole Lipsky shut the door on Seymour Sunday, earning the 4-2 save and his team a spot in the Section 1 finals against Fairfield American. The game was played at Blackham School in Bridgeport

Again, Wilton did it with its bats, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead on RBI singles by Colin Kahal and Justin Sorbo. The lead was extened to 4-0 in the third on another RBI single by Sorbo and a Seymour throwing error that allowed Jack Dooley to score.

Wilton ace Billy Black was lights out, pitching 5 ? innings and allowing just three hits and striking out five. Lipsky came on in relief to collect the final two outs.

Managed by Kevin Black, Wilton is undefeated in sectional play at 3-0. Having already clinched a spot in the finals, Wilton's pool play game Monday against Fairfield American will be something of a scouting mission. After its tuneup against American on Monday, Wilto and Fairfield play again for the section championship Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

The winner of the Section 1 finals plays the Section 2 winner for the state championship in a best of three series starting July 30.
