Wilton 6th Grade Girls Basketball Drops Two Close Games

WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton sixth grade girls travel basketball team fell short in two tight games last weekend in the Fairfield County Basketball League.

The girls team, sponsored by Servco Oil, lost to Norwalk, 30-20, on Saturday and to Monroe, 33-21, on Sunday.

Against Norwalk, Wilton quickly took the lead in the first quarter. Marygrace DelliSanti led all scorers with 10 points, and Fiona O'Brien added 6 points. Eleanor Greene, Maureen Campbell and Grace Cahill provided strong defensive efforts and many rebounds. Callie Judelson had a  free throw and Center Lily Umphred scored three points and played strong in the paint.

Katie and Erin McMorris provided sound passing and ball control. Mairead Kehoe played well at the top of the key against an aggressive double team defense.

DelliSanti and O'Brien led the way, while McMorris and Umphred also made solid contributions. DelliSanti, O'Brien and McMorris had six points apiece for Wilton.

Wilton plays home games this weekend against Amity and Trumbull.
