On Saturday, Jan. 10, they lost a tight contest to Stamford, after facing close games against the team for a couple years.

Guards Bridgette Wall and Kaitlin Reif pushed the ball up the court and fed the ball inside nicely to Adia Burrows, whose inside moves kept the pressure on Stamford. Hannah Belanger used her inside and outside game to frustrate Stamford, and Alex Greer stuffed the stat sheet with her hustle grabbing rebounds and pressing the action on offense. Wilton hustled all game and never gave up the fight, but Stamford was better on this day.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, Wilton lost to a very good Newtown team that moves the ball well and has both inside size and good guard play.

Wilton’s Sydney Cummings, who started the game with vengeance and was hustling all over the court, unfortunately injured her back and was not able to return.

Caty Greer made several steals with her quick feet and quick hands. Caroline Coffey and Maddie Burke patrolled the inside, fought for rebounds on both sides of the court and kicked the ball out to Olivia Dexter and Sophia Strazza. Dexter and Strazza prevented Newtown from collapsing their defense down low by getting good shots from the outside.
