Wilton Blue Fifth-Graders Roll Past Ridgefield

WILTON, Conn. – The Wilton fifth-grade Blue football team began the defense of its Fairfield County Football League title with a 20-8 win over Ridgefield. Wilton Blue and Wilton White shared the fifth-grade title in 2011.

Kyle Hyzy scored on a 70-yard run on the first play from scrimmage for Wilton’s first score. After taking the handoff from Jake Zeyher, Hyzy followed the block of Austin Anderson. He rumbled through a gaping hole provided by Patrick Burke, Erik Lebek, Dominick Polito, Jack Lenz, Noah Levi, Jack Savarese and Jack DiRocco and raced in for the score.

Wilton also played well defensively, including a tackle for a loss by R.R. DiRocco. Other defensive standouts included Steven Tuin, Cole Snyder, Brady Kuczo, Oliver Shulman, Oscar Telefaro, Anthony Andre and Sean Millar.

Hyzy also had a 47-yard touchdown run, while Jack DiRocco ran for Wilton’s other touchdown.
