Wilton Runners Earn Top Seeds

Nineteen athletes from the Wilton Running Club were chosen to compete in the first Western Connecticut Conference Middle School Track and Field Championship to be held at Newtown High School on Wednesday. The Western Connecticut Conference is made up of 11 teams from Fairfield County. It was formed in 2009 by coaches from Wilton and New Fairfield and includes teams from eight towns throughout the county.

The WRC has seeded athletes chosen in the following events:

Girls:

60M H – Samantha Deenihan – #8 seed – 11.44

100M - Megan Cunningham - #1 seed – 13.2

200M – Megan Cunningham - #1 seed – 29.03

400M – Sarah Battapaglia - #2 seed – 67.1; Madison Peraino #3 seed – 67.2

800M – Sarah Battapaglia - #4 seed – 2:43.20

Long jump – Madison Periano - #5 seed – 12 feet, 3 inches

4x100 relay - #3 seed

4x400 relay - #4 seed

Boys:

100M – Kullan Warner - # 3 seed – 12.6

200M – Kullan Warner - #3 seed – 26.4

400M – Spencer Brown - #1 seed – 59.8

800M – Spencer Brown - #1 seed – 2:18.6; Alex Ostberg - #2 seed -2:18:7; Clint Corso - # 4 seed – 2:24.8

1,600M – Alex Ostberg - #1 seed – 4:56: Spencer Brown - #2 seed – 4:58; Clint Corso - #3 seed – 5:08

Long jump – Kullan Warner- # 4 seed – 14 feet, 5 inches
