Wilton Runners Sprint To National Indoor Meet

Wilton residents Margo Foley and Brynn Parsons each qualified for the USATF National Indoor Championship in the 55M and 200M at the Northeast Zone Meet in Toms River, N.J., on Sunday. Both runners compete for the Connecticut Elite track and field team, which is coached by Wilton's Kevin Foley.

Parsons placed third in the 200 in 27.3 seconds and fourth in the 55m in 7.6 seconds. Foley was sixth in the 55M in 7.8 and fifth in the 200M in 28.2. To qualify for the National Championship Meet in Hillsdale, Ill., on March 12, athletes must place in the top six in each event.

"I am very happy for them," said Foley. "Neither Brynn nor Margo ran anywhere near their best times for the year, but they did what they had to do to qualify. When the outcome means qualifying for a national meet, it is good enough for right now."

In addition to qualifying for the USTAF national meet, Parsons and teammate Kafesha Thomas will also be running in the 60-meter dash at the New Balance National meet at the Armory in New York City on Friday, March 11. Each athlete qualified by meeting the standards during the indoor season. Thomas qualified with a time of 7.2 and Parsons in 7.3 in the 55M at the Colgate Women's Games in January.
