WILTON, Conn. – Wilton’s Amy Bevilacqua won a unique race on Sunday in New York, taking the women’s division of the Men’s Health Urbanathlon.
Bevilacqua, a Category One cyclist, led the women’s field in a race that included a 10 minute stair climb at Citi Field, jumping over yellow cabs, and climbing over school buses, monkey bars, parallel bars and barricades. The race started and finished at Citi Field. Urbanathlons are also held in Chicago and San Francisco.
Bevilacqua is a past champion of the New York triathlon and is a frequent competitor in road races throughout Fairfield County. She hopes to join a professional cycling team next year.
