Hyde Park Woman Faces Larceny Charges In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. — A New York woman turned herself in to Westport police Monday and is facing larceny charges in connection with a clothing theft, police said. On Oct. 24, a woman stole more than $300 in clothing from a downtown merchant. A second woman, later identified as Kathy Deacon, 65, of Cardinal Road, Hyde Park, returned the stolen items to the store and received a gift card for their value, police said. Fairfield Driver Flips Car On Westport Turnpike FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield woman trying to avoid a car exiting a Westport Turnpike driveway ended up hitting a snowbank and flipping her car Friday morning, police said. The driver, a 39-year-old Westport Turnpike resident, was traveling east on Westport Turnpike around 9:30 a.m. when she tried to maneuver around a car coming out of a driveway, police said. Her car clipped a snowbank, hit a stone wall and flipped onto its roof, coming to rest in the roadway, police said. No one was injured, but the driver was given a summons for failure to grant right of way from a private driveway.

Police: Overnight Car Thieves Caught On Tape In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Car thieves were caught on tape stealing a car from outside a Flintlock Road home Sunday, police said. The car’s owner was able to show officers the two men who approached her 2016 BMW X3 at 4:48 a.m. on surveillance video from her home, police said. The men walked to the car and then one got in, backed out of the driveway and headed north on Flintlock with the other following in a separate car, police said. The owner’s daughter had left the car unlocked with the keys inside the night before, police said.

Labor Department: Bridgeport Woman Stole $15,000 In Benefits BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The state Department of Labor has accused a Bridgeport woman of collecting more than $15,000 in fraudulent unemployment benefits, according to the Connecticut Post. Monica Smalls, 38, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree larceny for collecting the funds between July 2012 and September 2014, the Connecticut Post said.
