Man Accused Of Sexually Abusing Two Children In Fairfield County
A man who allegedly sexually assaulted two young girls over the course of several years in Fairfield County is in custody after attempting to flee the country, police said. On Nov. 11, 2019, the Danbury Police Department received a complaint involving the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl, which led to 33-year-old Juan Perez-Barbahona being identified as a suspect. Millions of dollars in grants can be withheld by President Donald Trump’s administration over “sanctuary laws,” a federal appeals court in New York ruled. The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan ruled opposite three other federal courts on Wednesday, Feb. 26, confirming that the president’s administration can withhold grants to New York City and seven states - New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Washington, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Rhode Island. One person was arrested in Fairfield County during a nationwide sweep by agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Monday, July 15, according to the police. The person was arrested in the area of North Washington Avenue in Bridgeport. A Syrian national living in Connecticut has admitted to harassing, threatening and intimidating his wife amid divorce proceedings while he was detained by ICE. Alaa Hasan Qalb Allouz, a citizen of Syria last known to live in New Haven, pleaded guilty in New Haven federal court to one count of stalking in violation of a protective order. Several area police departments are crying foul after being included in a media report that claims they are helping ICE track immigrants through a license plate reading device. Eight law enforcement entities were listed by the American Civil Liberties Union as having relationships with ICE, including Fairfield, Westport, Stratford, Norwalk, Trumbull, and Southern Connecticut State University. A man from Bridgeport with a Stamford bench warrant and a detainer by ICE was arrested in Darien, according to Darien Police. Officers responded to the Trader Joe’s parking lot at 436 Post Road on the report of a minor vehicle accident.
