Tractor-Trailer Rollover Snarls Traffic For Miles On I-84

Original story: DANBURY, Conn. — Traffic jams were reported for miles on I-84 after an accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer on Monday morning, according to Connecticut State Police and the Department of Transportation.

Update: All lanes of I-84 were reopened just before noon on Monday, DOT said.

The crash blocked two lanes of westbound I-84 between Exits 3 and 2 for much of the morning commute, DOT said.

Backups were reported for over 11 miles back to Exit 10 in Newtown, DOT said. 

The left and center lanes remained closed at 8:30 a.m., about two hours after the crash occurred, DOT said. State police said that there was a minor injury and that extrication was required. 

The driver was extricated and transported to Danbury Hospital, according to the Danbury Fire Department. 

In addition to State Police and the Danbury Fire Department, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was on the scene, state police said.
