They say they are putting it into the school budget, but not to teachers, and not to students. Check out Central Office. Did you see the old Marvin School principal, Myrna Tortorello who was given a vote of no confidence from every teacher in her school was now given a desk job down there to ride out her last two years until she collects a SECOND pension on our backs. She lives in NY and has retired from there already. She is the 25th highest paid in the town! She destroyed a wonderful school, ruined morale, alienated parents and made them feel unwelcome any time they tried to help. She advised the staff that the had no obligation to attend PTO family functions outside school hours, she discriminated against minorities in the school, actually told parents their children were "throw away kids" and was NEVER ONCE REVIEWED by superiors. Therefore, they did not document, they could not fire her. That's where the money goes!

No one's taxes are $6,000 they are closer to $10k or more. That amounts to $600+ in tax increases. Unfortunately, those who are paying at the top of the bracket in this town are also forced to pay tuition for our children since the schools are overcrowded, over tested, underfunded and failing. Where is the extra 4% going? View Comment
Right on target Ccasama. Went there one, had a crappy, overpriced meal. Left after the band played two songs. Looked at the receipt the next morning and found we were charged $8.00 pp for a "cover charge" for the band even though we dined in. Never went back. Hope someone reads your post and gets it. Too good a location to just sit empty. (MB) View Comment
Well, the "reassigned" Marvin School principal is now the one in charge of integrating Common Core so we shall see how well this goes. Check out the decline of the CMT scores and the mass exit of many families this year due to her reign of terror. Perhaps people with children in the school district should start asking more questions about who is in charge down town and get a closer look at their qualifications. View Comment
I urge each and every one of you to take a long hard look at what this woman did to the morale of Marvin School. Once the best school in the district, now the apathy is palpable coming through the door. This school has been given the opportunity to rebuild and renew. She has two years left on her contract and will retire on her second pension if nothing is done. Please, please look into this, write your BOE reps, speak to Tony Dadonna and push for this woman to be removed. At $160,000 annually there are many good teacher whose jobs could have been saved.
