FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Expect a couple of cold and blustery days in Fairfield County this week, as a wind advisory has been issued and temperatures are expected to be well below normal.

The wind advisory will be in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday, with the highest winds expected this afternoon. The northwest wind will be between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service. The winds have the potential to bring down tree limbs and power lines, and scattered outages are expected.

There is a slight chance of snow Wednesday morning, but the day is mostly expected to be partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny. The high will be around 37, but falling to about 29 by 5 p.m. This is well below the normal temperatures for this time of year, which are usually in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Wednesday night will be clear, with a low around 13 and wind chill values between 5 and 10. The northwest wind will be 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

The temperature will rebound slightly Thursday, which will be sunny with a high near 37, though the wind chill values will make it feel between 5 and 15. The wind will subside a bit, but will remain gusty Thursday. It will become calm Thursday evening, and the night will be partly cloudy with a low around 23.

The high pressure int he area will move offshore Thursday, bringing with it an increase in clouds and an approaching warm front for Friday. There is a slight chance of snow and a wintry mix early in the day, then a chance of rain the rest of the day. The high will be near 44, and the chance of precipitation is 40 percent. Friday night will be mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 43.

The weekend will likely be wet, with a 30 percent chance of rain Saturday afternoon. The high will be near 55. Saturday night will see a 50 percent chance of rain, and a low around 35. Rain and snow is likely on Sunday, becoming all rain after 3 p.m. The high will be near 40 and the chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
