FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — There is a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect in Fairfield County from Sunday through 9 a.m. Monday as a nor'easter rolls into the area, the National Weather Service said.

The vulnerable locations are along Long Island Sound across Connecticut.

The high tide could be 1 to 3 feet above normal, and then 3 to 4 feet above normal during the overnight low tide.

Water levels will reach flood thresholds, with minor flooding on Sunday evening and into Monday morning.

Shallow flooding is possible with the heavy rain — of 1 inch per hour — and elevated water levels and waves.

Some roads and low-lying property, including parking lots, parks, lawns, homes and businesses, will see flooding, especially in basements.

There will be 3- to 5-foot breaking waves along the Sound, with waves splashing over. Beach erosion and minor damage along the shoreline is possible. High winds of 30 to 40 mph – with gusts of 50 to 60 mph — will contribute to high waves and flooding.
