Led by Wilton entrepreneur Jennifer Angerame, owner of Southern Yankee, the event will raise funds and collect items for ElderHouse, an adult day center that serves seniors in Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Weston, Westport and Wilton.
Angerame said approximately eight vendors are taking part in the event, including A Single Strand, Nod Hill Soap, Diaper Bag Dailies, Carrot Top Kitchens and Sabina Furst Designs.
“The event is not about making money,” said Angerame. “It's about getting people out during a sometimes stressful and often hectic time of year to socialize, become acquainted with some local businesses and give to a local cause.”
Wilton High School students will also be on site selling “Post Graduation Party” fund-raising items, Angerame said.
Instead of charging an admission fee, Angerame said items are being collected at the door for ElderHouse. Shoppers are asked to bring Advil or Tylenol; boxed chocolates and cookies (sugar-free and regular); crossword puzzles; word search books; black/blue/red poker chips; or large sized Crayola markers. Cash donations are also appreciated, she said.
"Getting together and supporting one another while also supporting this charity felt like the right and sensible thing to do this time of year," said Angerame.
Sip-Shop-Share will take place at WEPCO, 36 New Canaan Road, Wilton, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Coffee and treats will be served during the daytime. Shoppers who stop in at night will enjoy wine and light appetizers.
“This is a great event because it’s very casual, there’s easy parking and it’s a fun way to get some holiday shopping done,” Angerame said.
