WILTON, Conn. -- When Dr. David Marks of Weston tired of his 45-minute commute to work, he decided to plant a new seed in Wilton, and last month opened Rejuvenate, an aesthetic medicine practice on Danbury Road.
“I look at it as making people feel better about themselves… making them look refreshed,” Marks said about his new practice. “It’s where art and medicine meet.”
While some may be quick to label Marks a plastic surgeon, and attach all of the negativity that comes with such a title, he said his work in aesthetic medicine is fundamentally different.
“I only do outpatient procedures,” said Marks, a Los Angeles native and a former Westport resident. He told the Daily Voice that his work is focused on the use of botox and filler injections to help make cosmetic improvements that still look natural.
“A lot of my patients whose families don’t know they’ve had a procedure, see the patient and say, ‘Oh, did you just get back from vacation?’ because they look five years younger and more energized,” said Marks. “I don’t want them to look fake, I don’t want them to look frozen. … My philosophy has always been less is better.”
The Yale Medical School graduate always knew he wanted to work in medicine, but said aesthetic medicine “wasn’t what [he] originally envisioned.” However, after working in internal medicine for years and spending sometime as a medical reporter for major news organizations, Marks found himself doing the work he does today, and fell in love with it.
“A lot of my patients feel younger inside but it isn’t being expressed outside,” Marks said. “People are happy afterwards and it makes me happy to have been able to help.”
Although Marks said his clients are primarily women, he said he also sees men in the same age range of 30 to 60. Men especially see it as a way to gain a competitive advantage in an increasingly younger job market, he said.
Rejuvenate is a cosmetic practice, so insurance will not cover any procedures, however, Marks offers free consultations and believes he is “the most reasonably priced practice in the area.”
According to Marks, the effects of an average botox injection will last about three to four months and fillers for six to 12 months.
Rejuvenate has office hours Mondays to Saturdays and appointments seven days a week. Interested persons can make an appointment by calling the practice at 203-450-1536 or by visiting the website here .
