WILTON, Conn. — Wilton Center will lose two retailers by the start of the weekend as Krik-It, a children’s clothing  store, and Une Minette, a women’s clothing shop, are closing their doors for good Friday.

Next door neighbors in the Wilton River Park plaza on River Road, Krik-It and Une Minette both opened six years ago. Each is hosting a store-closing sale in which everything must go, which means big savings for shoppers.

“We do want people to come in and help clean us out,” Krik-It co-owner Rosanna Coughlin said. “In addition to it being Tax-Free Week, everything in the store is between 25 and 75 percent off.”

Not just a figure of speech, Coughlin said literally everything in the store is for sale, including furniture and fixtures. The same is true at Une Minette, said owner Lauren Robak.

Neither Coughlin or Robak wanted to discuss the details of their store’s closure.

Peg Koellmer, president of the Wilton Chamber of Commerce, said the loss of two businesses is sad news. “We never want to see retailers go,” she said. “Both stores carried wonderful product lines and they are going to be missed.”

Janeen Leppert, executive director of the chamber, shared Koellmer’s sentiments, saying it’s unfortunate both stores are closing.

“They’ve been in the center for six years— we’re so sad to see them go,” Leppert said.

Neither Koellmer or Leppert knew the reason why Krik-It and Une Minette are closing, but Koellmer said she hopes their spaces in the plaza can be filled quickly.
