Norwalk Hosts Presentation On Marijuana Legalization

NORWALK, Conn. -- Retired Connecticut Police Inspector William Butka will lead an informational discussion on marijuana at Norwalk City Hall Wednesday.

The talk is hosted by Communities 4 Action, the Human Services Council, the Courage to Speak Foundation and the Regional Youth Adult Social Action Partnership. It is open to the public and will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Community Room of Norwalk City Hall.

Butka has more than 46 years of law enforcement experience in the management and performance of investigations. He worked for nearly 30 years in the Wallingford Police Department and for 10 years with the Office of the Chief State's Attorney as Police Inspector. He is a member of a number of law enforcement organizations, including a founding member and Northeast Regional Director for the National Narcotic Officers Associations Coalition.

During his presentation, Butka will cover the issues and concerns surrounding the legalization of marijuana, provide updates on the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and what to expect if the same occurs in Connecticut, and update attendees on drug overdoses occurring throughout the United States.

The presentation is a "bring your own lunch" event. Beverages and desserts will be provided.
