These Fairfield County Towns Rank Highest In Household Income

It’s no secret that Fairfield County is home to some of Connecticut's wealthiest communities, but which rank the highest?

In a recently released report by Statistical Atlas, the organization calculated which areas in Fairfield County have the highest household income, reviewing data from the 2010 census and 2012 through 2016 American Community Survey.

The median income in Fairfield County sits at $86,700, making it the highest county in the state. Fairfield County also has the highest average household income in the state at $812,100, more than $300,000 than its nearest counterpart.

The municipalities with the highest average household income in Fairfield County are:


  • Greenwich ($1,438,700 annually; 77.2 percent higher than the county average);
  • New Canaan ($1,403, 700; 72.8 percent);
  • Darien ($1.324,900; 63.1 percent);
  • Westport ($1,272,800; 56.7 percent);
  • Wilton ($1.105,400; 36.1 percent);
  • Sherman ($1,071,000; 31.9 percent);
  • Weston ($1,064,700; 31.1 percent);
  • Ridgefield ($1,041,400; 28.2 percent);
  • Fairfield ($883,900; 8.84 percent);
  • Stamford ($637,000; -21.6 percent);
  • Redding ($613,400; -24.5 percent);
  • Easton ($593,200; -27 percent);
  • Norwalk ($566,300; -30.3 percent);
  • New Fairfield ($548,600; -32.4 percent);
  • Newtown ($516,400; -36.4 percent);
  • Bethel ($502,100; -38.2 percent)
  • Brookfield ($502,100; -38.2 percent);
