Wilton Receives 'HEARTSafe' Designation

WILTON, Conn. – Wilton has been named a HEARTSafe Community by the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

In a ceremony at Wilton Town Hall, First Selectman Bill Brennan said, “Being designated a HEARTSafe Community broadly recognizes many dedicated public safety employees and citizens, which includes members of the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and responders, plus Wilton police officers and firefighters.”

To be named a HEARTSafe Community, the town has to promote and support:

  • CPR training in the community;
  • Public access to defibrillation through strategic placement of automated external defibrillators;
  • CPR- and AED-trained and equipped first responders; and
  • Early advanced care.

Thomas Lenart, of the Department of Public Health's Office of Emergency Services, presented a certificate and a letter from the commissioner of public health, as well as road signs that indicate that Wilton is a HEARTSafe Community.
