AAA Names Wilton Police Officers Traffic Safety Heroes Of 2013

WILTON, Conn. — Four Wilton police officers were recently honored by the Connecticut division of AAA Southern New England as Traffic Safety Heroes of 2013.

Officers Michael Tyler, Anna Tornello, William Barrett and David Hartman have made Wilton’s roads safer by educating motorists and the community through awareness and enforcement of motor vehicle laws. 

Tyler was commended for his work in targeting seat belt violations.

Tornello, a 2013 MADD award recipient, worked to combat drunken driving by enforcing driving under the influence laws.

Barrett, who helped the department implement the License Plate Reader system, was recognized for his efforts to reduce distracted driving.

Hartman, a 2012 AAA Hero Award recipient and certified child safety seat technician, was honored for his work in the area of child-passenger safety.

The Wilton Police Department as a whole was given the Bronze Award for its traffic safety programs, which include an active child passenger safety program, and a junior/senior seminar focusing on drunk driving and distracted driving dangers.
