Angelica  Pasakiolis, 27, of 1 Mail Coach Court, was charged with driving under the influence and two counts of risk of injury to a child. Her first court date is scheduled for Oct. 6.

She was driving down what police described as a long shared lane at about 4:30 p.m. Friday. Pasakiolis rammed into a utility pole, snapping it in half and causing the wires to fall.

She left the scene of the accident, getting out of the vehicle and taking her two children, a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old, out of the 2003 Mercedes Benz M350 and heading home, police said.

Pasakiolis called police to report the wires down. The officer who responded smelled alcohol during a discussion with her in the police cruiser, police said.

Pasakiolis refused to perform the three roadside field sobriety tests but did consent to a breath test at police headquarters, police said. The reading was 0.15, almost twice the legal limit, police said.

One of her children suffered a minor cut and swelling to the head in the crash, said Lt. Donald Wakeman.

A relative was called to pick up the children during her arrest, he said.
