Mark Moscato, 40, of 22 Aaron Samuels Blvd., was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct.
The first incident began at about 11 p.m. May 6, when Moscato knocked on the door of a Clover Drove home and told the woman who was house-sitting that he was going to arrest her for selling drugs, police said.
He left, and the woman immediately contacted police.
A few minutes later, police received a telephone call from a motorist saying he had been confronted by someone flashing his lights at him near the intersection of Route 7 and Route 107 in Wilton.
Moscato "pulled up alongside [the motorist] and rolled his window down and yelled over to him and told him he has to turn himself in to a police department because he is a car thief," Lt. Donald Wakeman said. He then drove off, Wakeman said.
Several days after that incident, Wilton police noticed a bulletin from police in New York State about a man who had been arrested in East Fishkill, N.Y., about 90 minutes after the Wilton incidents who claimed he was an FBI agent.
In the New York incident, a man got into a dispute with his father and his father called police, police said. When officers arrived at the East Fishkill residence, the suspect told police he was an FBI agent, police said. Officers weren't buying that and took him into custody, police said.
Wilton police spoke with the father, who said the family had once lived briefly on Clover Drive when the suspect was about 10 years old.
Moscato was later released from custody, and he returned to Danbury, police said. Danbury police came into contact with him last Wednesday and discovered Wilton police had a warrant for his arrest, police said. They took him into custody, and he was charged by Wilton Police.
He was released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Monday.
