David Gomez, 34, of 200 Boston Ave., turned himself in to police Sunday after learning of an arrest warrant for him, police said.
Wilton police Lt. Stephen Brennan said the theft occurred in mid-March. The homeowner discovered the items missing March 19 and reported it to police a few days later, he said.
The police investigation turned to the company where the men worked, Brennan said. The company gave police the names of the four individuals, and investigators discovered one man had worked in the attic while Gomez worked below him in the area of the master bedroom, police said. That was the area where the jewelry had been stored, he said.
Two other men worked on the lower floor, Brennan said.
The break in the case came, police said, when they turned to a regional police information system where purchases made by pawn shops, and information on who they bought it from, must be recorded.
A pawn shop in Orange reported it had purchased the items March 18 from Gomez, police said.
There was no information available about whether the jewelry has been recovered.
Gomez could not post his $10,000 bond and was held in police custody.
