"Thank you the voters, volunteers and my family for their support of my candidacy. Their vote of confidence is gratifying," Boucher said in her victory speech Tuesday night. "I never forget that they are providing me with a rare opportunity to represent their interests in bringing their voice to Hartford.

Boucher, a Wilton resident, was running for her third term. Before she was first elected in 2008, she served 12 years as the state representative from the 143rd District.

In addition to her supporters, Boucher thanked Curry for running a "hard fought race."

"Challenging different beliefs is an important part of this debate on how to best serve the people of our great state," Boucher said. "Carolanne, thank you."

Curry, a Westport resident, is an alternate on the Westport Planning and Zoning Commission. She’s worked several years as an administrative assistant in the Connecticut Senate Democratic Majority Office.

Although she was not victorious, Curry said she was happy with her campaign and won't be discouraged from running again. The experience, she said, was a great opportunity.

"The first time you run for visibility. The second time you run for victory," Curry said in a telephone interview Tuesday night. "I think the relationships I started with the people I've met in these seven towns has a future."

The 26th District covers Westport, Bethel, New Canaan, Redding, Ridgefield, Weston and Wilton.
