STAMFORD, Conn. Mary Ellen Shier of Stamford died May 1, surrounded by her family. She was 70.
Born Jan. 4, 1942 in Greenwich, she was a daughter of Patricia (Cooper) Ferraro and the late Frank Ferraro. Shier enjoyed reading and going to the beach, but most loved cooking for her family.
She is survived by her mother Mary Ellen; a son, William R. (Janet) Shier III; a daughter Patricia (Tom) Stroili; two brothers, Robert (Lynda) Ferraro and Francis (Gail) Ferraro ; a sister, Carol Ferraro; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William R. Shier, Jr.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Castiglione Funeral Home in Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Timothy's Chapel in Greenwich. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.
