Based on the French historical novel by Victor Hugo, “Les Miserables” tells the story of Jean Valjean, who is released on parole after 19 years of unjust imprisonment.
Facing nothing but mistrust and mistreatment, Valjean decides to break his parole in hopes of starting a new life. But Police Inspector Javert is never far behind, hoping to catch Valjean and send him back to prison. Several years later, however, during the Paris student uprising in 1832, Javert must reconsider his mission when Valjean spares his life during battle.
More than 100 students, including the cast, crew and orchestra, have worked for the past three months to bring this world-famous production alive in Wilton.
The show opens Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Wilton High School Clune Center. The show continues Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults, and can be reserved by calling 203-834-4844, or emailing whstix@wilton.k12.ct.us.
