WILTON, Conn. -- Washington and Lee junior offensive lineman Michael LaSala of Wilton was among those honored when the American Football Coaches Association announced its 2015 Division III Coaches All-America team this week.

LaSala was one of five offensive lineman recognized on the team, which honors just 25 players – 11 on offense, 11 on defense and three specialists.

He is the second W&L player to earn All-America laurels from the AFCA in the last three years, joining Connor Hollenbeck, who was honored on the team in 2013. Overall, LaSala is just the sixth W&L player ever to be named to the Coaches All-America team.

LaSala started all 11 games at tackle and helped lead the Generals' offense to the most prolific season in school history.

W&L set a slew of records, including total offense (5,439 yards), rushing offense (4,773 yards) and points scored (417).

The Generals led all of college football with an average of 433.9 yards per game, as W&L produced the three best single-game rushing performances in Old Dominion Athletic Conference history.

W&L rushed for a school-record 649 yards in a season-opening 63-35 win over Averett, and added 508 rushing yards against Emory & Henry and 506 rushing yards against Bridgewater.

Earlier this season, LaSala garnered First Team All-ODAC and D3Football.com First Team All-South Region accolades.

Washington and Lee finished the 2015 season with a 10-1 overall record. The Generals set a school record for wins and completed their first undefeated regular season in 54 years. W&L won the ODAC title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where it fell to Thomas More (51-21) in the opening round.
