On Saturday against Fairfield Liberty, Hannah Belanger’s acrobatic moves and team leading 9 points fueled the offense. Maddie Burke and Adia Burrows fought hard in the paint and added a couple of baskets each, along with Sidney Cummings whose second basket came after a beautiful steal and full court charge.
Alex Greer, Bridgette Wall and Kaitlin Reif rounded out the scoring. Fairfield kept the game close with a fierce outside shooting game which Caroline Coffey, Olivia Dexter and Caty Greer shut down to seal the 29-28 win.
On Sunday, the girls, wearing Sandy Hook memorial green ribbons, took on Danbury PAL and jumped out to an early double-digit lead. Burrows (12 points), Burke (9), Belanger and Wall (both 6) led the scoring, with Wall hitting a pair of 3-pointers.
C. Greer, Dexter, Coffey, and A. Greer all hit timely baskets as Danbury fought back to tie the game with under a minute left. Under pressure Reif, Cummings and Burrows all hit key foul throws to preserve the 49-44 win and a weekend sweep.
