Wilton Fencer Liam Smith Wins Gold, Silver Medals At Nutmeg Games

WILTON, Conn. -- Wilton High School rising junior Liam Smith won gold and silver medals in fencing in the recent Nutmeg State Games.

Smith placed first in the Fencing Cadet (U17) Men's Foil event at the Nutmeg State Games held in Danbury on Monday, July 28. He beat Samuel Bagdan in a nail-biter 11-10 final to take the gold medal.

The day before, Smith took the silver medal in the Junior (U20) Men's Foil event in another exciting final losing 14-15, to Daniel Levitan.

Smith trains at Candlewood Fencing Center in Danbury under coach Jeremy Goun.
