Cassidy, a competitive amateur triathlete, is a member of the Eleonore Rocks Elite Triathlon Team. Each member of the team pledged to raise at least $1,200 for the foundation by the end of the year. Cassidy, 22, wanted to go above and beyond that.
“This is an extremely worthy cause, so I wanted to raise an additional $5,000 for the foundation,” said Cassidy, who recently graduated from the College of the Holy Cross.
With his goal in mind, Cassidy decided to organize a raffle fundraiser. With help from his fiancée Sarah Humbert and his older brother Jim—who is a member of the foundation’s Ambassador Triathlon Team— Cassidy reached out to his personal sponsors and a few other companies with the idea, and the response was much better than he anticipated.
“I originally planned on doing this fundraiser by myself, but it became so big that I talked with Dave Friedrich [who founded Eleonore Rocks with his wife], and we decided to turn it into the team’s annual fundraising raffle,” said Cassidy.
With the whole team involved, Cassidy hopes the raffle will raise at least $20,000 for the foundation.
Approximately $12,000 in donated prizes will be given out as part of the raffle, Cassidy said. Raffle tickets are $10 each and can be purchased through the Eleonore Rocks website. All proceeds benefit the foundation, he said.
“The great part about this fundraiser is that people can give back and have the chance to win something in return,” said Cassidy.
