WILTON, Conn. – Eager to get a bite of something different? The Wilton Chamber of Commerce is inviting you to savor the town’s flavor during its first-ever Restaurant Week.

The inaugural Wilton Chamber of Commerce Restaurant Week will run March 11-16. The Chamber is gathering interested restaurants in Wilton, Cannondale and Georgetown to participate, asking them to feature selections at special prices for the week as incentive for visitors to dine out.

Janeen Leppert, executive director of the Wilton Chamber, said the group is hosting the week as a way to promote the eateries in spring when business is usually slower. The town has hosted the Taste Of Wilton event during summer for the past five years.

“We want to show the variety we have to offer. We have a little of everything,” Leppert said.

Other towns in Fairfield County and the rest of the state have hosted restaurant weeks for several years. Chamber President Peg Koellmer said Wilton’s week will be “an opportunity to explore new tastes and revisit favorites. We expect that most restaurateurs will be excited to be part of this new event to promote their business and attract additional customers.”

Maria Pertesis, co-owner of Cactus Rose Cantina in Wilton Center, said she likes the idea.

“It’s a good thing just to expose ourselves to people and let them know we’re here,” said Pertesis. “It brings other people to town to try something different and there are a lot of new restaurants in town.”

Leppert said she hopes to get 30 restaurants to participate. For more information on Restaurant Week, contact the Wilton Chamber at (203) 762-0567 or via email at info@wiltonchamber.com.
