HARRISON, N.Y. - Reports of flooding and power outages have continued to pour in after Tropical Storm Irene made its way through the area.
Mike Gasparre of downtown Harrison sent in photos of Crystal Street flooding near Nelson Avenue. It was only one of the many flooded areas in Harrison as the town continues to assess the damage.
Wanda Carpiniello near Henry and Thatcher avenues said surrounding yards, driveways and basements have flooded. She also reported raw sewage being backed up and spilling into the streets.
Carpiniello said she requested town assistance at 7 a.m. Sunday and the sewage was resolved by 4 p.m.
A detached garage on Pilgrim Road was also covered in debris.
More than 1,000 Harrison residents are without power as of 10 a.m. Sunday morning, according to Consolidated Edison.
But not all of Harrison is underwater or in the dark.
Olu Onemola on Muchmore Road said his house did not experience any floods or power outages.
"My house is fine," Onemola said.
Bob Raymonda lives on Maple Avenue in downtown Harrison and also said his home was not flooded or blacked out.
The eye of the storm reached New York City close to 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Residents are encouraged to stay inside throughout this storm and not attempt to drive or travel until it has passed. Some vehicles have been reported submerged in water and there are several areas throughout town with loose debris.
