The yearly gathering of the local nonprofit organization’s members and volunteer leaders is when the Y conducts its official business; honors youth, staff and volunteers for their service; and welcomes new members to its governing boards.
The meeting will be the final one held at the downtown location before the opening this fall of the new Y facility at the Y’s nearby Mahackeno summer-camp location.
The fun and fellowship begins at noon, with an Open House for former Y staffers and members. It’s a chance for one and all to make a last visit – or get in one last workout or swim “on the house.”
Historical photos and displays highlighting the Y’s place in the community since 1923, as well as the latest views and news about its modern new home taking final shape at Mahackeno will be on display.
The Y will also be offering special activities for families, including a “hand’s-on” arts & crafts project for our ribbon-cutting and an invitation to contribute items to a time capsule to be buried at Mahackeno and opened in 2023, when the Y celebrates its 100th anniversary of service to our community.
“We’re grateful to have been able to impact generations of families in the towns we serve, and our Annual Meeting on the 16th will be a wonderful opportunity to thank all who have contributed to making our Y a center of community life and wellness,” Family Y CEO Rob Reeves said in a statement. “As we honor our past at our downtown home, we look forward to being able to serve the current and future generations of those who live and work in our community in new and exciting ways at our new Y come this fall.”
A welcoming reception, with beverages and light snacks, begins at 4:30 p.m. tThe annual meeting convenes at 5:30 p.m.
