Project 2013 volunteers Mike LashMax BloomAdam DamonKatie WardPaige Wallace and Jonathan Haase enthusiastically picked up litter at Wilton Clean-Up Day on April 2. The event was sponsored by the Wilton Conservation Commission.

Also on April 2, Wilton High School senior Michael Kaelin led a re-enactment of a day in the life of Civil War soldiers and Bryan Caswell, also a Wilton High senior, gave a lecture about the Civil War as part of the exhibit “America’s Civil War Retrospective” at the Wilton Historical Society. Shalini Maderas is serving as committee chair for Coming Home, a benefit to be held May 7 at Trackside to raise money for Female Soldiers, Forgotten Heroes. The organization has purchased a home to provide transitional housing for female veterans who are homeless. Did you know … that you can vote for your favorite teacher in the Star Teacher contest sponsored by The Daily Wilton? At Miller-Driscoll, kindergarten teacher Pam Sullivan has the most votes, and Merris Horowitz is in second place. Kara Gioielli, a third-grade teacher, leads at Cider Mill, and at Middlebrook Jessica Garcia and Alison Rubin have both been nominated but need your votes. Two teachers at Wilton High School were nominated, Marc Feeley and Kristina HarveyDonna Kydes is in the lead at Our Lady of Fatima, which has 10 other nominatees. At Connecticut Friends School, four teachers received nominations, and Tonya Burchette has the most votes. Click on the Star Teacher Contest to nominate or vote for a teacher. The winning teacher’s school PTA can get up to $5,000, and the teacher wins a $100 gift certificate from Staples. Hurry, the contest ends April 11.
