Wilton Car Insurance Rates Rank Far Below State Average

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — It's no secret that where you live can largely determine how much you'll pay for car insurance in Fairfield County, according to valuepenguin.com.

But insurances rates can differ by as much as 66 percent in neighboring areas, according to valuepenguin.com.

Some of the most expensive car insurance can be found in Bridgeport and Stratford, with prices much cheaper in Ridgefield, Wilton, Weston and Redding.

The website conducted a study of more than 60 cities and town in Connecticut to "quantify the difference." The researchers found that Hartfort drivers, on average, paid the most for car insurance while those in Lyme paid the least. The difference can be as much as $1,161.

Bridgeport is home to more than 144,000 people who, on average, pay the second highest rates for car insurance, or about $1,000 more than those in Lyme, according to valuepenguin.com. 

In Stratford, where insuring a car costs more than most other cities in Connecticut, drivers pay about $600 more than the state average.
