WILTON, Conn. A second flag was raised Tuesday over Wilton Town Hall to celebrate and promote April as national Donate Life Month.
Its a difficult topic and we want to raise awareness, said Kari Mull, director of Donate Life Connecticut.
All drivers can register to be donors at the DMV while getting their licenses even 16 year olds. However, until they are 18, parents or guardians of the driver can choose to not donate their child's organs. Mull said many myths exist about organ donations that are false, which she hopes raising awareness will dispel.
There are more than 112,000 people waiting for an organ transplant and countless others rely on donated tissue to restore sight, avoid infection from devastating burns and prevent amputation. You have the power to help more than 50 people by registering as an organ and tissue donor, First Selectman Bill Brennan said.
Brennan said that he had sent out a letter to all the town employees encouraging them to go to the New England Organ and Tissue Donor Online Registry and register to learn about becoming a donor.
