Wilton Man Loses Guns, Gets Arrested

Wilton resident Charles Vaast was arrested after not reporting the loss of his three handguns to police early enough.  Under state law, people are required to report missing firearms within 72 hours of realizing they are gone.  Vaast reported the guns missing on Dec. 20, through the subsequent investigation police learned that he knew the guns were missing longer than the 72 hour window.

Vaast was arrested on Jan. 31 and charged with with failure to report loss of a firearm and held him on $5,000 bond.

Also in the police blotter:

? Thomas Corish was charged with driving under the influence on Route 7 on Jan. 30. Wilton police saw Corish's vehicle straddling a divider in the southbound lane, stopped him and took him into custody.

The Norwalk resident was charged with failure to drive right and operating under the influence. Police released Corish on a promise to appear in court Feb. 10.
