Bernard John Duke' Krupnik, 90, Of Wilton

WILTON, Conn. – Bernard John “Duke” Krupnik, of Wilton and formerly of Riverside, died on Tuesday, June 2. He was 90.

Krupnik was born on Oct. 5, 1924, in Stamford to Michael John and Anna Kotula Krupnik.

He graduated from Stamford High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946 on the USS Boston.

After his service, he worked in sales for 27 years at Remington Rand in Stamford and retired as the purchasing officer of the Putnam Trust Company Bank of Greenwich after 13 years.

Krupnik was predeceased by his parents; his brothers John, Stanley and Alexander Krupnik; sister Julia Koules; and his brother-in-law and best friend, Nick Koules.

He is survived by his wife Ann,; their two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patti Krupnik of Wilton and Stephen Krupnik of Annapolis, Md.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Lex Zaharoff of Weston, Judy and Socrates Verses of Great Falls, Va., and Wendy and Andrew Melnick of Westport; nine grandchildren; sisters Katherine Riska, Bertha Tomczyk and Joan Sienkiewicz and many nephews and nieces.

Calling hours will be at the Hoyt Cognetta Funeral Home, located at 5 E. Wall St. in Norwalk on Friday, June 5, from 4 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 6, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, located at 229 Danbury Road in Wilton.

Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Darien.
