Joseph Oleksy, 96, Wilton Resident

WILTON, Conn. -- Joseph Frank Oleksy of Wilton, husband of the late Elizabeth Hruncak Oleksy, died Monday, Feb. 23, at Wilton Meadows Rehabilitation Center. He was 96.

Born June 28, 1918, in Swoyersville, Pa., Olesky was the son of the late Joseph and Victoria Antos Oleksy.

Oleksy served in the Army during World War II. He later worked for GE for 39 years.

Olesky loved gardening and woodworking around his home as well as listening to his favorite teams on the radio.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Bianco and her husband, Hank, of Wilton; by his granddaughter, Victoria Bianco of Charlotte, N.C., and grandson Joseph Bianco of Wilton; his sister, Alice Yurchision of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 27, from 6-8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Norwalk.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull. Donations in his memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675 www.woundedwarriorproject.org
