Letter: Help the Wilton Salvation Army

WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Send letters to wilton@dailyvoice.com.

To The Editor:

The holiday season is a time of joy and celebration. And yet, so many families are struggling to make ends meet, even in Wilton. The Wilton Unit of the Salvation Army works closely with Cathy Pierce, Director of Wilton’s Department of Social Services, to provide a year-round program of service designed to assist in meeting the emergency and supplementary needs of Wilton residents. Last year, we helped residents by paying toward past-due utility bills, home heating oil bills, rent, donating food pantry items, and supplying Payless gift cards to provide needy Wilton students with shoes as part of our Social Services back-to-school program. In addition, we purchased Christmas gifts for a needy Wilton family.

However we can’t do this without the generosity of Wilton residents. Please send your donations payable to the “Wilton Unit, Salvation Army” to Louise Delaney, 38 Woods End Drive, Wilton, CT 06897.

Another way you could make a small donation of $10 is through a new program offered by the Salvation Army. “Text to Give”. Use your mobile device to send a text to 41444, text the word “WILTONSA” followed by “GIFT AMT “ You will receive a reply message with a link to fulfill your pledge of $10. Our unit is excited to be part of this program!

We thank those who have supported our Wilton Unit in the past and look forward to whatever method you choose to make a donation.
