Jeff Iwanicki, 44, of Milford, turned himself in at the Fairfield Police Department on Monday after learning through his attorney that there was an active warrant for his arrest, police said.

Iwanicki, who teaches graphic design, was charged with two counts each of risk of injury/impairing the morals of a minor, public indecency and breach of peace. He was was released after posting $50,000 bond.

The arrest stems from incidents that occurred Nov. 2 and Dec. 6 in a multipurpose room, according to police. They were reported Dec. 7, police said.

Police would not release details on the incidents, other than to say they occurred during what would be a normal period of interaction between a teacher and student. There was no physical contact, police said.

Police said there was no romantic relationship between Iwanicki, who is listed as a technical education teacher at Warde's Townsend House, and the student.

Police said they know of no other victims in the case, but would consider an investigation if someone else comes forward.

Fairfield School Superintendent Toni Jones sent an email to parents about the arrest and said the teacher had been on a leave of absence.

"The Fairfield Public schools was recently notified that a member of its staff at Fairfield Warde High School was arrested on January 16, 2017," the email said.

"At the time of the arrest, the employee was not at school or in contact with students. Immediately after school officials learned of the allegations approximately one month ago, the employee was placed on an administrative leave of absence pending an investigation," the email said. "This action enabled the school district to ensure the safety of its students while also reserving immediate judgment on the employee. The employee has not been in contact with students at school since being placed on leave.

"As this matter is still under investigation, no further details can be provided. If you are a parent having any concerns relating to your child, please contact your child’s School Counselor or Housemaster."
