Man Charged With Robbing, Slashing Victim In Street Assault In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. — An arrest has been made in a serious street robbery on Woodward Avenue in which the victim was severely assaulted and slashed in the head "with an edged weapon," Norwalk police said.

The robbery/assault occurred Sept. 8 in front of 50 Woodward Ave., near small businesses and homes, police said. 

During the robbery, the suspect stole cash and severely assaulted the victim by slashing the victim's head with an edged weapon, police said. 

Detective Dan Fitzmaurice determined that Gregory Sayles was a suspect in this crime and obtained an arrest warrant for him. 

Sayles turned himself in at Police Headquarters on Tuesday, Sept. 12, and was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. Sayles was held on $150,000 bond.
