First responders were dispatched to 281 Canal St. at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, when a building partially collapsed with a section of the rear of the structure collapsing into the river.

Police said that the building was vacant at the time of the collapse, and no injuries were reported. The local Fire Marshal and Shelton Building Inspector responded to the scene to evaluate the building, the condition of which was not available on Tuesday afternoon.
